Car Safety Inspections for Winston-Salem, NC

Staying safe on the road starts with an annual safety inspection. Your vehicle must pass this inspection before you can renew your vehicle’s registration. The earliest that you can have your vehicle inspected is 90 days before your license plate or registration expires.

During your inspection, our technicians will review your:
• Headlights & Taillights
• Accessory Lights
• Signals
• Brakes (including parking brake)
• Steering
• Wipers
• Tinted Windows (only if applicable)
• Tires
If we discover an issue in any of these areas, we will let you know and get you scheduled for repairs so that your vehicle can be inspected again quickly.

Emissions Inspection

Since Winston-Salem sits in Forsyth County, you will also be required to pass an annual emissions inspection. This part of your inspection is mandated through the Environmental Protection Agency to help maintain air quality standards.

However, there are some exceptions to this part of your inspection. Light-duty vehicles that are less than three years old or have fewer than 70,000 miles, vehicles that were made before 1995, diesel vehicles, or vehicles that are registered as farm vehicles are all exempt.
Schedule Your Inspection
Don’t let your inspection expire! Make sure you head over to Old Town Auto Works before your inspection is up so that you don’t have to worry about any last-minute issues or delays. If you have any questions, please give us a call.
