Auto Engine Repairs in Winston-Salem, NC

Everyone is always on the lookout for the dreaded “check engine” light. Of course, this light doesn’t necessarily mean that the issue lies with your engine (a loose gas cap can trigger this light), but you should always take this sighting seriously. Because your engine is such an important component of your vehicle, it’s a good idea to be aware of signs that may indicate that you are having engine troubles.

You should never hear knocking sounds while you’re driving. If you hear this, it is possible that the engine’s bearings have started to fail. Exhaust smoke is another detail to pay attention to. Blue, black, or white smoke are abnormal, each indicating that another component (like gasoline or coolant) is being burned.

How Your Engine Works

Modern engines are also referred to as internal combustion engines; they work by heating and combusting fuel inside to move your vehicle by powering pistons. The main outer portion of the engine is called the engine block, it is a large structure with cylinders where the pistons can move inside as the engine is powered. Cylinders, and other passages built into the engine, allow coolant to flow, which cools the engine as it works. Inside the engine is an area called a combustion chamber, this is where your engine creates the energy necessary to move pistons and power your vehicle. Inside the combustion chamber fuel is fired up and evaporated, creating energy which moves your car!

The engine under the hood is what powers your car and if it is not in good shape, due to a neglect or standard high mileage wear and tear, there is a chance that you'll soon be facing big engine problems. Our team is proud to offer engine repair services to those in the Winston-Salem area. Call us today for auto engine repair!
